Muis.co is a website that gives users a place to create simple blogs. The user can create multiple blogs and add names, an email address and nickname. The email address provided is used to send the user updates specific to their blog. Along with standard text and images, users can also add content from their Twitter, Facebook or Flickr profiles. The application presents users with a very simple watered down interface that allows the user to focus on their blog content. The user can also review a blog timeline to see how many visitors their blog received on a given day. Users can keep their Muis.co blog simple or add a new stylesheet to customize the look of each blog. An indexing option gives the user the choice of permitting or not permitting the indexing of their blog pages.

Muis.co went live on July 23rd, 2011. The website was intended to give internet users a blogging alternative that approached this common activity the way “it is supposed to be.” The focus remained on keeping the blogging process simple and convenient. The current version gives users a quick way to add a status, image or other content from a social network profile to their blogs. The application keeps its features minimal without hindering its appeal to casual bloggers.

While other services cram additional features that can be a bit confusing for a new or casual blogger, Muis.co sticks with the necessities so users have what they need and nothing more. Muis.co is not much to look at, although this does not diminish the value of the application. Users who like eye candy with their interfaces should look elsewhere. Muis.co utilizes a pale background and black text along with basic text entry fields. The entire interface can be described as bare bones, yet still manages to retain a hint of unique personality through font and the few silhouette shaped icons that help guide users to each feature.

New users can create a Muis.co account by clicking the light blue “Sign in with Twitter” button found near the right side of the homepage. The user will be directed to the Twitter login page. Once the user has signed in to Twitter, the site automatically receives permission to access the user’s account. The user is directed to the Musi.co dashboard and can begin blogging. There is currently no alternative sign in option available.

Muis.co is available to anyone who would like to blog for free. There is no subscription fee or other charge required when creating an account or building a new blog. All users are given the same level of access to all current features. This is definitely a good way to go considering how watered down Muis.co really is. Although some users would consider the application’s simplicity to be a benefit, it also means a subscription fee would not be justified.

Muis.co is a good blogging website for anyone who wants to casually blog as well as those who are just learning how to blog. The website is very easy to use, with absolutely no clutter or distractions to hinder the user. Users who maintain Twitter, Facebook and Flickr accounts will get the most use out of Muis.co, which encourages blogs that blend social networking content within the user’s text posts.
